Sunroof is a very common and even basic configuration for new cars now. The skylight can bring us a lot of convenience, such as quickly removing the fog and dirty air in the car without adding any wind resistance and noise, and it can also bring us a sunny mood and so on.
However, the position of the skylight and the function of opening and closing at any time make it have hidden worries about sealing. Now it's time to change seasons at the beginning of the year. The sandstorm in spring and the rain in summer will test the state of the skylight again. Once there is a problem with the skylight, the cost of repairing it at a 4S shop is not low. If we maintain it ourselves, a skylight will remain in good sealing condition for more than ten years. So how do we do that?
Water leakage may occur due to poor maintenance of sunroof
In fact, it is very simple, just take a weekend or even the usual amateur ten minutes.
Generally speaking, the main job of maintaining the skylight is to clean up the dirt in the gaps of the skylight, so it is necessary to prepare some cleaning tools, including buckets, rags, etc. The object of operation is mainly the internal sealing strip of the sunroof and the guide rail of the sunroof.
1. Clean the surface of the sunroof glass
Some dust, bird droppings and gum are often attached to the surface of the skylight, which can be wiped repeatedly with a wet cloth until all impurities are erased and the texture of the glass itself is completely exposed. This can prevent the internal structure of the skylight from continuing to be contaminated with dust or dust from falling directly into the car when the skylight is opened.
2. Clean the sunroof sealing strip
Wipe the sealing strip inside the sunroof with a clean damp cloth to remove all the oil sludge and dust attached to it. Also check the sealing strip for obvious damage. The sealing strip should have a certain degree of toughness, which can ensure the sealing of the skylight. If it is found that the sealing strip is obviously damaged, it should be replaced as soon as possible.
3. Clean the drain hole and the sunroof rail
The guide rail on the skylight has drainage holes on the internal structure to exclude a small amount of water from the skylight structure. However, due to the entry of dust, sludge and leaves and other debris, the drainage hole may have poor drainage. This will prevent the water entering the sunroof from flowing out smoothly and may flow into the car. Therefore, you can use a rag to clean the drain holes with a cotton swab.
Similarly, the cleaning of the guide rail is also related to the sealing of the sunroof, the smoothness of the switch and the noise, so pay attention to cleaning. Sometimes there will be solid grease on the guide rail of the sunroof, so be careful not to wipe it all.
